Saying goodbye.

This last week has been an emotionally and physically hard week for the Martin family. Our home for the last 11 years went on the market Friday. This was our first home. We bought this house new and had the joys of watching it being constructed each step of the way. This was the place where our family expanded from 2 to 3 then to 4. This was where we felt safe while riding out three hurricanes in 2004. This is where we made plans, where we poured out our sweat and efforts to build this into house into a home.

Our Houses

After a week of cleaning and packing, we have moved into to Angel’s father’s house and our home is now on the market. While our new home is comfortable and accommodating, we are still making adjustments. Figuring out how to live, where to put things and more importantly, where to find things. This brings on a lot of stress and worry.

To add to the already high emotions, Shelby, our 4 year old Dogue de Bordeaux, will be moving in with her new family on Sunday. The reality of this hit Genevieve today as she realized that we only have 4 more days with Shelby. What a dog! Shelby has been my constant companion for 4 years, whether going to work with me everyday, riding as my co-pilot as I take the girls to school or laying around me until it’s time to go to bed, she is always close by. Not having the comfort of companionship will be a big change for our family. We are excited though that the Lord has answered our prayers and provided a family that will love on her. Shelby will be going into a home with a stay-at-home mom who home-schools their 10yr old daughter. Shelby will also have a 1 and a half year old toddler to play with as well as a 20 day old baby to protect. She will do great, but we will surely miss her!

We would be so grateful for your prayers! Please pray for our grieving hearts as we say goodbye to Shelby. Please pray for a quick time of grief and healing for Riley and Genevieve. And please pray that Shelby will adjust quickly to her new home and family.
